Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how The Joy Is Reel works, what you receive and how to book.
On the day
What do you film on the day?
It depends on your package. The Intimate Edit covers getting ready, first looks, the ceremony, confetti and your exit. The Signature Edit adds couple portraits, the drinks reception, your wedding breakfast entrance and the speeches. The Grand Experience adds cake cutting and your first dance, plus 30 minutes after it. Everything is filmed as candid, vertical video.
Will you ask us to pose?
No. Our coverage is candid. We film what is already happening and do not stop your day to set up shots or ask you to repeat a moment. If there is a particular reel you would like, tell us beforehand and we will give a little direction for that clip only.
How do you work alongside our photographer and videographer?
We work around them. We check your timeline before the day so we know when to stay out of shot, and we film the candid moments around the formal coverage. We are a wedding content creator, not a replacement for either supplier. See how a content creator differs from a videographer.
Is it one of you or both of you on the day?
One of us. Either Amy or Kate films your wedding, with several phones as backup.
Do you film the speeches and the first dance?
Speeches are included in The Signature Edit and The Grand Experience. The first dance, plus 30 minutes after it, is included in The Grand Experience. The Intimate Edit finishes after the ceremony, confetti and exit. We film them as clips, not complete start-to-finish recordings. If you want every word on record, book a videographer as well.
How long do you stay on the day?
There are no set hours. Each package covers set moments of the day, and we agree start and finish times from your timeline before the wedding.
Can we choose the music for our videos?
No, we choose the music for your highlight videos. If there is a particular reel or trend you would love, tell us in your discovery questionnaire and we will plan for it.
What you receive
What do we get after the wedding?
Every package includes edited highlight videos and all your raw footage. You receive 2 highlight videos with The Intimate Edit, 3 with The Signature Edit and 4 with The Grand Experience. Each highlight video is 30 to 60 seconds long.
How quickly do we get our videos?
Your edited highlight videos are delivered within 48 hours on every package. With The Grand Experience, one of the four is delivered within 24 hours.
Do we get all the raw footage?
Yes. All raw footage is included in every package, alongside the edited highlight videos. It arrives with your edited highlights, within 48 hours.
Do we get photos too?
Yes, some still images are included alongside your video. Our focus is video, so the stills are not a replacement for a photographer.
Is this a wedding film?
No. We deliver short, vertical highlight videos and raw footage, not a full-length cinematic wedding film. If you want a long-form film with full ceremony and speech audio, book a videographer as well. Read what a wedding content creator does.
What format are the videos?
Vertical (9:16), filmed for phones and for Reels, TikTok and Stories. You can post them or keep them private.
How is the raw footage delivered?
By online file transfer, at the same time as your edited highlights. Download and back it up as soon as it arrives, because download links expire.
Booking
How much does it cost?
We have three packages: The Intimate Edit at £395, The Signature Edit at £650 and The Grand Experience at £800. See what each package includes.
Are prices the same on weekdays and weekends?
Yes. Each package costs the same on any day of the week, with no date restrictions.
Can we add extra coverage?
Yes. If you would like us to stay longer or film more of the day, tell us what you have in mind and we will quote before you book.
Where do you cover?
We are based in Droitwich, Worcestershire, and film weddings across Worcestershire, the Cotswolds and the West Midlands.
How do we check availability?
Send us your wedding date and venue through the contact form, or call 07858 818686.
What is the deposit and payment schedule?
A 25% deposit secures your date. A further 50% is due six months before the wedding, and the final 25% is due 28 days before. Booking within six months of the wedding? The deposit and the six-month payment are due together when you book. Within 28 days, the full amount is due.
What happens if we cancel?
Deposits and part payments are non-refundable once they have been paid.
What if we need to change our wedding date?
Tell us as soon as you can. We will do our best to move your booking to your new date, subject to availability.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included for venues within 20 road miles of our base in Droitwich. For venues further away we quote travel based on the location, not a fixed rate per mile. Send us your venue and we will confirm the figure before you book.
What happens if you are ill on the day?
Either Amy or Kate films each wedding, so if one of us is unwell, the other can usually step in. If neither of us can, we bring in a replacement from our wedding-industry contacts.
What if your equipment fails?
We carry several phones to every wedding, so there is always a backup to film on.
Do we need to provide a meal for you?
It is not compulsory. If we are with you all day, a supplier meal is very welcome.
How far in advance should we book?
As early as you can. Many couples book us after the venue, photographer and dress, closer to the date, but our diary does fill up, so the sooner your date is in it the better.
Will you share our wedding clips on your own channels?
Yes, unless you ask us not to. We share clips from the weddings we film on our own social channels to show our work. If you would rather yours stayed private, tell us and we will not use them.
Do you cover events other than weddings?
Yes. We can create content for other celebrations, including hen dos. Get in touch with the date and what you have in mind.
